Casdoor vs Okta

An open-source alternative to Okta

Okta Workforce Identity is a proprietary service sold per user per month, and Okta's customer identity product is Auth0. Casdoor covers employees, customers and AI agents in one open-source platform that you can host yourself or have us run.

Why teams choose Casdoor

One platform

Customers, employees and AI agents sign in through the same Casdoor, with one console.

No per-user fees

A flat price per instance, so adding employees or contractors doesn't change your bill.

Authorization included

Casbin RBAC, ABAC and ACL are built in, so permissions live next to identities.

Your data, your servers

Self-host the open-source edition to keep identity data inside your own environment.

When Okta may fit better

  • You want workforce identity from a SaaS vendor and per-user pricing suits your headcount.
  • You need a vendor with SOC 2 or ISO 27001 reports for the hosted service today. Casdoor Cloud does not have them yet; teams with that requirement usually self-host Casdoor in their own certified environment.

Moving from Okta to Casdoor

Casdoor's syncers import users and groups from Okta, and because Casdoor speaks OpenID Connect and SAML, most apps only need a new issuer URL and client credentials. Move apps over one at a time; we can help plan larger migrations.
