Casdoor vs Stytch

An open-source alternative to Stytch

Stytch, now part of Twilio, is an API-first authentication service known for passwordless login and fraud prevention, priced per monthly active user. Casdoor is an open-source identity platform with hosted login pages, an admin console and an API, that you can self-host or have us run.

Why teams choose Casdoor

No MAU bill

Cloud plans are a flat monthly price, so more users don't mean a bigger invoice.

Console included

Manage users, applications, providers and permissions in Casdoor's admin console, not only through APIs.

One IdP for every app

Casdoor is an identity provider over OIDC, SAML, CAS, LDAP and RADIUS, so the same accounts sign in to your own apps, SaaS tools and devices.

Run it anywhere

The same Apache-2.0 code runs in our cloud or on your servers, and you can move between them.

When Stytch may fit better

  • Device fingerprinting and bot detection are central to your product.
  • You want to build every screen yourself against an API and already use Twilio.

Moving from Stytch to Casdoor

Export your users from Stytch and import them into Casdoor. Casdoor can verify bcrypt, Argon2id, PBKDF2 and salted SHA-256 / SHA-512 password hashes, so imported users can keep their passwords. Passwordless users can keep signing in with email or SMS codes, magic links or passkeys in Casdoor.
